    Position: Chief Engineer

    Description:

    We are looking for a Chief Engineer to assume responsibility for overseeing daily engineering operations encompassing electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and emergency systems across multiple sites in the greater San Jose area. Collaborating closely with building management and team members, you will ensure a seamless service delivery, manages technical personnel and contractors, and maintains optimal system performance. Additionally, they provide expertise in capital improvement recommendations, energy efficiency initiatives, and sustainability practices, while ensuring adherence to client and industry standards.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and maintain mechanical, electrical, and craft services to ensure operational efficiency and compliance with environmental standards set by Building Management.
    • Oversee facility equipment and systems, including tenant improvements and construction projects.
    • Facilitate regular communication with Building Management to address service-related matters.
    • Develop operational protocols and procedures for equipment and systems, aiming for zero downtime and reliable performance.
    • Prepare and manage operating budgets for the Engineering Department.
    • Establish and execute preventive maintenance schedules tailored to facility requirements.
    • Evaluate equipment and systems operationally, providing clients with deficiency reports and improvement recommendations.
    • Monitor subcontracted jobs and ensure compliance with local regulations and safety standards.
    • Implement energy conservation programs to minimize operational costs.
    • Maintain necessary licenses and permits for equipment operation and maintenance.
    • Establish and manage inventory control systems for operating materials and equipment.
    • Develop and maintain a work order system for on-call and unscheduled services.
    • Allocate work responsibilities efficiently among subordinates, ensuring adherence to performance standards and safety protocols.
    • Enforce safety measures and administrative requirements in accordance with client and Engineering Services policies.
    • Monitor and adjust Building Management Systems (BMS) and operate fire life safety systems.
    • Perform general building repairs and preventative maintenance tasks for HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other systems.
    • Respond promptly to emergency maintenance requests.
    • Fulfill additional duties within contractual limitations as required.

    Educational and Experience Requirements:

    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a management or mentoring role.
    • Completion of Technical school certification for HVAC and electrical systems, Apprenticeship, or a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Facilities Technology.

    Licensing:

    • EPA/CFC Universal Certification

    Skills and Abilities:

    • Ability to work independently and efficiently.
    • Strong safety awareness and physical capability to lift more than 50 lbs.
    • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
    • Effective time management skills.
    • Competence in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present technical information.
    • Proficiency with Energy Management Systems (EMS) and comprehensive understanding of HVAC/R systems and Fire Life Safety Systems.

    Job Details:

    • Hours: Expected 40 hours per week
