Job DescriptionOverview
At Neighborhood House our mission is to provide individuals with opportunities to enhance the quality of their lives, and our vision is to break the cycle of poverty for our children and families. The Program Director oversees all programs at Neighborhood House in accordance with agency's mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. Ensures that all programs support and protect the safety and development of those served. Ensures the staff have the resources needed to carry out their responsibilities, including professional development and operational systems/procedures to ensure quality of programs.
Agency Duties and Responsibilities
1. Supports the mission, vision and philosophy of Neighborhood House as evidenced by compliance with all agency policies and procedures.
2. Provide leadership and positive interaction with others as evidenced by professional maturity, respect for others, a team-centered approach, maintenance of confidential information, and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
3. Exhibits effective communication skills internally and externally including proper use of agency communication systems.
4. Exhibits sound stewardship by effectively managing financial resources, information resources, and physical resources to achieve the objectives of Neighborhood House.
5. Performs job duties (serves) in a way that supports Neighborhood House values Respect, Integrity, Service, and Education (R.I.S.E).
Essential Functions
1. Supervise the Program Staff
a. Interview, hire and train employees; plan, assign and direct their work, appraise their performance, reward and discipline, address complaints and resolve problems.
b. Ensure that proper records are maintained in the program areas.
2. Helps with the development and implements systems for ongoing assessment to assure excellence in quality of all programs and to implement changes as needed to meet standards.
a. Ensure that services are designed and implemented to meet the needs of clients, their families and referral sources.
b. Work alongside Director of Operations in the implementation of standard operating procedures for all programs.
c. Work alongside Director of Operations in coordinating the assessment and revision of program outcomes to connect them together toward agency goals. Updates the goals, objectives and measurements as needed.
3. Ensures positive work culture among program staff with the skills and resources to meet agency objectives.
a. Develop and coordinate training for Program staff to ensure that they have the knowledge and skills to carry out their responsibilities.
b. Reinforces a culture of collaboration between program departments and outside resources.
c. Assures the development and implementation of personnel training and development plans (i.e. orientation, training curriculum, training resources) as necessary for the achievement of the agency's mission.
d. Ensures effective communication systems for agency staff , including internal computer systems that facilitate communication, staff meetings, etc.
4. Oversight of financial management and stewardship among programs.
a. Works with Executive Director and Program Directors to develop annual program budgets.
b. Works with designated staff for approval/oversight of monthly expenses.
c. Ensures proper stewardship of and reporting for grant funding and donated items.
5. In conjunction with the Development Director, assists with proposals, grant applications, and reports on specified grants.
6. Ensures a safe and healthy environment in meeting the safety needs and objectives of each program.
a. Ensures the implementation of all functions that attain and maintain compliance with regulatory agencies (i.e. health department, licensing).
b. Fully informs the Executive Director on the condition/needs of the agency as related to assigned responsibilities and other areas as applicable. Keeps the Executive Director abreast of all pertinent issues, policies, and legal issues related to the services of the agency and those being served while in the agency.
7. Provides leadership for the design and implementation of additional programs in accordance with identified community needs and within the context of the mission and resources of the agency.
8. Participates and leads in assigned events that promote the agency and support services related to the agency.
9. Works with development staff to assess needs for the development and implementation of volunteer programs to help meet program objectives.
10. In conjunction with the Development Director, assists with written materials and agency functions that support public relations and advertising of services and programs.
11. Other duties may be assigned by the Executive Director.
Requirements
1. Master's degree in social work or related field from an accredited school is preferred.
2. Five years of supervisory experience required, preferably in social service programs.
3. Two years' experience in administration in a non-profit agency preferred.
4. Experience in a culturally diverse social service filed preferred.
5. Ability to integrate various roles, skills, and competencies needed to effectively serve the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of persons served.
6. Ability to create budgets and to understand and interpret financial reports.
7. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
8. Ability to lead staff to create and implement standard operating procedures.
9. Implementation of knowledge related to human resources/personnel practices.
10. Excellent computer skills.
