Under general supervision, performs a variety of financial and accounting related clerical duties such as data entry, checking and reconciling routine accounts, making deposits, tracking time and expenses, record keeping, purchases, and filing reports supportive of the department function.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (Essential functions, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following tasks, physical requirements, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other characteristics. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Tracks and monitors electronic monitoring equipment and other inventory; prepares, types, and generates a variety of correspondences, reports, records, and related documents using Excel spreadsheets; answers assigned telephones and responds to public inquiries and/or problems using independent judgment; processes purchase and maintenance orders; Tracks federal, state, and local revenue; monitors, reconciles and keeps accurate and up-to-date budget(s) balances; resolves all discrepancies and provides accurate information for budget projections; coordinates and tracks payment of invoices; maintains daily population statistics;
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
The equivalent of a high school diploma and five (5) years of experience in the field of bookkeeping, accounting, or related field. Must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. Must possess a valid driver's license.ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Prior to operating a County-owned vehicle, all employees are required to complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants who are proficient in both English and Spanish are preferred, but not required, for this position. Applicants who indicate they are proficient in both English and Spanish will be required to take a language exam. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work requires extensive keyboarding, limited physical effort primarily involving intermittent sitting, standing, and walking.
