    Job Description:

    • Responsible for programmatic and administrative oversight of the Leadership Alliance program including recruitment, reviewing applications, managing selection process, and onboarding students to ensure they have access to all the UniversityâTMs resources and facilities.
    • Coordinate STEM and Humanities pipeline programs and organize and run summer and academic-year programming.
    • Organize and run academic workshops for summer student participants, prospective participants, and faculty.
    • Assist departments and divisions in developing a suite of pipeline programs that are aligned with the University of ChicagoâTMs diversity and inclusion strategy.
    • Develop student programming to promote the academic success of undergraduate and graduate students.
    • Serve as a resource for and provide support to students of color and multicultural students.
    • Help build community and affinity for students of color and multicultural students.
    • Promote a diverse and inclusive University environment, where diversity is viewed in the broadest sense â" including but not limited to age, ethnicity, gender, race, physical abilities, religion, sexual orientation, thinking styles and life experiences.
    • Recruit, hire, compensate, train, and supervise college assistants, graduate assistants, and other part-time and temporary staff.
    • Maintain program website and social media sites.
    • Prepare and present analyses, reports, and marketing materials to a wide variety of both internal and external audiences.
    • Work on a variety of committees/teams and with a diverse array of colleagues and partners in education, industry, and other sectors.
    • Stay current on Diversity & Inclusion philosophies and approaches, shares best practices, trends and guidelines in student support programs and initiatives with University leadership.
    • Pursue external funding opportunities through researching and identifying appropriate federal and private grant opportunities.
    • Provides support for extramural funding supporting pathway programs including supporting data collection and preparation of progress reports.
    • Represent UChicago to external stakeholders and institutional partners within the Leadership Alliance network as institutional coordinator and within the NIH as Program Director of NIH R25 grant.
    • Cultivate strategic partnerships and represent program to a wide variety of internal stakeholders to increase engagement with program.
    • Develops and communicates program priorities and performance standards and assesses operations using these criteria. Plans and conducts quality assurance reviews and recommends changes as appropriate.
    • Has a deep understanding when interacting with faculty, researchers and staff for committee work or information.
    • Performs other related work as needed.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience:

    • At least 7 years of experience leading and/or supporting Diversity & Inclusion and pipeline programs.
    • Has successfully created and run an innovative pipeline program, summer research pipeline program, and/or developed and implemented strategies to promote educational access and success for students from historically under-served populations, such as African Americans, Latino, Native American, and Asian American/Pacific Islanders.
    • Prior experience involving science education, advising, and/or student services in higher education.

    • Proven ability to influence without authority and lead strategic priorities through to results.
    • Proven ability to think strategically and creatively around Diversity & InclusionâTMs application and the capacity to contribute to grant applications and pilot programs.
    • Successful track record of building relationships with external partners such a local and national schools, businesses, colleges, universities, corporations, and community-based organizations.
    • Demonstrated thought leadership and passion for Diversity & Inclusion, and increasing the access of underrepresented populations to the University.
    • Strong relationship skills â" ability to develop 'Diversity Champions' at senior management levels to impact and influence decisions and effective actions.
    • Able to work collaboratively with University partners and other stakeholders.
    • Excellent project management, analytical and organizational skills.
    • Ability to work collaboratively and proactively, while balancing a variety of priorities.
    • Ability to handle complex and confidential information with discretion.
    • Demonstrated experience working effectively within a large University system and building alignment in a cross-functional and team environment.
    • Demonstrated experience using data to understand trends and develop programs that lead to measurable impact on an organization.
    • Strong written and oral communication skills.
    • Self-motivation and initiative.
