    About the Role

    Workday's Privacy Team is looking for a highly motivated attorney to lead Workday's growing North America privacy team. This leadership position will manage a team and oversee all privacy-related activities within the Americas region, in coordination with regional and operational privacy leadership. This includes developing and implementing privacy policies, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and managing privacy risks. The ideal candidate must be a confident self-starter who can take on difficult problems, devise solutions, build strong relationships, and prioritize and handle multiple tasks and responsibilities with agility and efficiency.

    Strong candidates will have a strong programmatic privacy and legal background with proven experience building privacy programs and increasing their efficiency. While this role is focused on North America, Workday takes a global approach to privacy and candidates should have a firm understanding of global privacy laws (GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, CCPA, etc.).

    About You

    Basic Qualifications

  • J.D. Degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least 1 state bar
  • 10+ years of experience
  • 5+ years of national law firm or in-house experience, with a focus on privacy or marketing law
  • Solid understanding of data protection laws and regulations in the U.S. and globally, including CCPA, the EU General Data Protection Regulation, and ePrivacy Directive
  • Proven experience managing and developing a team while building, maintaining and improving a privacy program
  • Other Qualifications

  • Able to effectively evaluate relative privacy risk and is comfortable accepting a healthy degree of risk when appropriate
  • SaaS or other product counseling experience, specifically advising on privacy issues during product development
  • Skilled at explaining complex privacy topics and gaining support and consensus with multiple stakeholders
  • Willing to take on new challenges and learn new technologies
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment
  • Experience drafting and negotiating data processing agreements
  • Critical thinker and problem solver
  • IAPP CIPP Certification a plus
  • Excellent judgment and a sense of humor

    The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.
