    Position Summary

    Monitor and evaluate day-to-day accounting activities. Responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions to ensure proper financial practices are reported in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).

    This is a full-time, exempt position. NO RECRUITERS PLEASE.

    Principal Duties and Responsibilities

    1. General Accounting
    2. Responsible for general accounting functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, payroll, and payroll taxes.
    3. Responsible for month-end closing journal entries, general ledger account reconciliations and verifying accuracy of month end financial statements.
    4. Ensure timely and accurate vendor payment processing including assisting in processing accounts payable weekly checks.
    5. Resolve any discrepancies or irregularities found in the financial records, statements, or documented transactions.
    6. Prepare grant financial reimbursements and reporting.
    7. Ensure proper record keeping of donations/contributions processing and reporting in the general ledger.
    8. Payroll Duties
    9. In the Paylocity payroll system software, ensure accurate bi-weekly payroll processing.
    10. Manage changes in payroll including pay rate changes, terminations, insurance coverage deductions, etc.
    11. Run reports of bi-weekly payroll (pre and post processing) in Paylocity for management approval.
    12. Prepare payroll and paid time off monthly accruals.
    13. Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing system software and procedures.
    14. Ensure timely filing of payroll tax reports via Paylocity.
    15. Resolve payroll inquiries from employees.
    16. Perform ad hoc payroll analysis and projects as requested.

    Recommended Skills or Abilities*

    1. Strong understanding of Community Health Center finance and accounting practices.
    2. Above-average skills in accounting practices, computer literacy, and time management.
    3. Highly proficient in QuickBooks, Microsoft Excel and Outlook with keyboarding skills of at least 45 wpm. QuickBooks certification is a plus.
    4. Proficiency in Paylocity Payroll systems is desired.
    5. Ability to quickly grasp and simplify complex accounting topics.
    6. Operate independently and work well with other Finance and NHC staff.
    7. Consistent attention to detail.
    8. Ability to handle a large, diverse volume of work in an efficient manner.
    9. Strong practical thinking and communication skills
    10. Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive and equitable working relationships with co-workers and community members.
    11. Ability to serve as an advocate for individuals of all ethnicities, genders, ages, and backgrounds.
    Requirements:

    Required Knowledge and Experience

    1. A minimum of 5 years demonstrated broad understanding and application of accounting transactions, payroll and account payable processing and Grant Reporting.
    2. Skilled at using word processing software and spreadsheets to communicate detailed information.
    3. Bachelor's degree in accounting or minimum five years related experience with increasing responsibilities. Bookkeeping certification will be considered.
    4. Understanding or aptitude to learn medical billing terminology.
    5. Ability to work Mondays through Fridays during the hours of 8am and 5pm.
    6. Ability to work remotely as needed via a home office set up with access to a secure internet connection.
    7. COVID and flu vaccines.
