    Under general supervision, performs a variety of manual, semi-skilled and moderately complex duties in the construction, maintenance, and repair of city water distribution and wastewater collection systems. Must be able to operate several types of construction equipment to perform excavating, grading, and related duties of the water maintenance division, ensure safe and proper operation at all times. Must be able to assist driver operator and crew leader in performing daily maintenance duties. Performs a wide range of manual duties associated with installation, repair, and maintenance of city water distribution and sewer collection systems including digging, breaking pavement, mixing and pouring concrete, cutting pipes, and other plumbing type repairs. Operates power equipment including tapping machines, pumps, sewer flush truck, power saw, chain saw, air hammer, and soil tampers.

    Drives various light equipment such as pick-up truck, one and two-ton single-axle dump trucks, skid steer loaders and farm tractor. Sets up barricades and flags traffic around work site. Uses various hand tools to dig, sweep, spread, level and move materials such as concrete, gravel, sand, dirt, and asphalt. Assists with setting forms around area to be repaired, pouring of concrete and finishing surfaces of poured concrete for various maintenance projects. Operates backpack chemical sprayer to spray manholes, ditches and roadside areas with chemicals to control insects and weeds. Ability to drive standard shift vehicles. Performs other duties as assigned.

    Must have a valid Class B Driver's License with Air Brakes and must obtain Tanker endorsement within one (1) year of employment as a condition of continued employment. Working knowledge of operating procedures for various light equipment plus one (1) year experience in sewer and water construction, maintenance or repair activities. Must pass a background and driver's license check, and physical exam, including a drug screen. Must be a high school graduate or have a GED. Will work in a non-smoking work environment. City of Bartlett resident preferred, but not required.
