    Primary Duties and Responsibilities

    The Mortgage Loan Officer I will have an active Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) License and Idaho Origination License for the state of Idaho to initiate the mortgage process for potential clients, preparing, analyzing, and verifying mortgage loan applications for the purchase or refinance of real estate.

    The Mortgage Loan Officer is tasked with executing high-quality mortgage origination, prioritizing responsible lending opportunities to homebuyers and homeowners, particularly focusing on underserved markets to advance the mission of NeighborWorks Boise. This position will oversee the entire lending cycle, from intake to approval and closing. Additionally, this position involves assisting with the preparation and distribution of the Lending Committee report, scheduling meetings, and notifying all participants in advance. This position plays a pivotal role in facilitating the lending process and supporting NeighborWorks Boise's objectives. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    • Serve as initial point of contact for program services and make phone calls to secure client information
    • Act as a liaison between borrower, lender(s), realtor(s) and maintain communications with all parties involved in transactions
    • Collect required documentation along with the Processor for Lending services from applicants and follow up on missing items to ensure complete, accurate, verified files, and complete loan origination process
    • Assists clients with completion of mortgage applications, inspecting completed documents for accuracy and thoroughness
    • Reviews loan applications, gathers credit histories and reports, and assesses applicants capacity to repay and default risk, using the respective AUS
    • Establish, maintain, and update files, databases, records, and/or other documents for recurring internal reports
    • Coordinate with the Loan Processor to order credit reports, updates and supplements, title reports, and other documentation as needed for re-conveyances, and service-released loans
    • Coordinate with the Loan Processor to prepare correspondence and maintain workflow to meet all deadlines and reporting requirements
    • Maintain communication and notify management of status updates as needed
    • Assist with monthly report packet and presentations for the Lending Committee
    • Prepare DOC order for accounting to wire funds for loan commitments/closings
    • Maintains knowledge of trends and developments in the local real estate market; current and predicted lending rates; and changes in rules, regulations, and best practices of various mortgages
    • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with borrowers, Lending Committee, CDFI partners, other lenders, consultants, and other staff
    • Provides outreach and education regarding NHS Lending products to potential borrowers, partner organizations, community members and interested parties
    • Assist with Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS) reporting
    • Assist with department reports as needed (monthly, quarterly, yearly)
    • Consistently supports a team approach to reach benchmark goals and long term objectives. Regularly encourages team participation and input into decision making and program solving

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Working knowledge of mortgage loan programs is required
    • Knowledge and experience with affordable housing finance and nonprofit real estate development organizations strongly preferred
    • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, superb interpersonal and customer service skills, and exceptional decision-making ability
    • Excellent records and file management skills
    • Understanding of loan originator software such as BytePro, and Encompass LOS as well as demonstrated knowledge, experience, and fluency using Microsoft Office Suite
    • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends. Travel to training periodically required

    • Bilingual in Spanish preferred, not required

    Education and Experience

    • Must be currently licensed with NMLS in Idaho
    • High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelors degree in business, Finance or other related field a plus
    • 2-5 years of prior experience in mortgage lending, real estate, or related field required
    • 1-2 years Administrative Assistant experience

    Job Type: Full-time Compensat

    ion: Starting base rate of $26.00 per hour or DOE (excluding loan closing incentives).
