    Responsibilities


    POSITION SUMMARY:
    Must be familiar with the operation of food service equipment. Must have a working knowledge of food sanitation; knows acceptable techniques in handling and service of food to guests. Delivers food carts to patient floors in specified order; returns carts to dish room at designated times. Wash certain items by hand, such as pots and pans and knows operation of dish machine. Consistently shows concern for cleanliness of work area. Has responsibilities during tray line assembly process. Must help maintain floors clean and must assist with overall kitchen cleanliness. Knows how to lift properly and how to avoid careless kitchen related accidents. Has common kitchen safety knowledge.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Ability to read, write and communicate in English/Spanish languages
    • Must demonstrate commitment and adherence to STHS's Compliance Program and Code of Conduct through compliance with all policies and procedures, the Code of Conduct, attendance at required training and immediately reporting suspected compliance issue(s) to the Compliance Officer.

    EDUCATION / LICENSURE:

    • Certified by the City of McAllen or Edinburg (depending on facility employed) or accredited by the State of Texas and ANSI-the American National Standard Institute as a food handler upon hire or within 14 days of employment.
    • High School diploma, GED, or Higher Education preferred.
