    Description

    Summary



    As a Logistics Management Specialist you will assist the Center Transportation Officer with planning and coordinating transportation activities for Kennedy Space Center (KSC) institutional and programmatic requirements. You will also provide advice to institutional and program customers on transportation program requirements, policies, and procedures.



    Duties

    • Duties described below are at the highest grade advertised. Duties assigned at lower grade levels will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity; duties will be commensurate with the grade of selected employee.
    • Assist with the management and the composition of rolling stock assigned to KSC programs and contractors including vehicles leased from General Services Administration.
    • Provide oversight of contractor transportation programs to ensure compliance with established policy, regulations, and procedures.
    • Work with customers to provide economical and efficient transportation of freight, personal property, and/or passengers as required.
    • Provide oversite of freight operations and ensure invoices for the center are processed and approved to meet prompt payment requirements.
    • Develop and draft local policies and procedures relevant to transportation operations at KSC.
    • Analyze and evaluate legislative and regulatory proposals for potential impact on transportation programs, recommend revisions, and prepare implementation guidance.
    • Assist with transportation requirements utilizing Special Airlift Assignment Missions (SAAM) and Railroad.
    • Study, analyze, and evaluate the potential benefits of using automation to improve efficiency of transportation operations.
