    Description

    As a nurse at Christus Health, you will provide routine and complex care in an independent setting while demonstrating awareness of all relevant aspects of a situation.

    You will continue to develop the ability to cope with and manage contingencies of clinical nursing, making appropriate assignments and delegating to other care providers as needed.

    In accordance with the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice, you will provide nursing care utilizing the nursing process, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation for assigned patients.

    You will document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given, assess learning needs, and provide education to patients, family members, and/or caregivers.

    Using critical thinking skills, you will assess the basic physical, psychosocial, social, cultural, spiritual, and developmental needs of patients and families.

    You will communicate findings to appropriate healthcare team members, develop and use a specific plan of care, and modify it to meet individual patient needs using evidence-based practice.

    Implementing patient care and therapeutic procedures, you will monitor and document progression of treatment and teaching goals.

    You will evaluate the care and treatment provided to the patient and the patient response to the care and treatment.

    To ensure safe practice, quality care, and compliance with regulations, you will demonstrate accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities.

    You will provide evidence-based nursing care, communicate patient information effectively across the continuum of care, and educate and train others on operations, ethics, and regulations within the industry.

    Knowledge of federal, state, and local healthcare-related laws and regulations is essential, as is the ability to comply with these in healthcare practices and activities.

    You will analyze policy and standards documentation, ensuring organizational compliance, and assist in the development and implementation of specific procedures.

    Additionally, you will work with control and monitoring mechanisms, tools, and techniques to resolve common equipment problems and ensure proper working order of equipment prior to use.

    Your experience should include basic medical equipment used in your unit or facility, electronic documentation, and medical order processing systems.

    Minimum requirements include:

    • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred
    • 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty, preferred
    • RN License in the state of employment or compact

    New hires will undergo a precepting process and complete designated organizational entry competency validation and Perinatal Department-specific competency validation.

    A Perinatal RN Residency or recent experience in a Perinatal Setting is preferred.

    Current STABLE certification from one of the following courses is required: For new graduates and experienced nurses new to the specialty, certification must be obtained within 4 months of hire and maintained thereafter.
