- Maintains a safe, clean, therapeutic environment and adheres to infection control guidelines.
- Prevents injury to self and others by complying with established safety procedures and uses proper body mechanics and transfer techniques. Participates in accomplishing unit maintenance tasks which includes checking equipment to ensure that it is functioning safely.
- Practices proper technique during sterile procedures.
- Demonstrates safe work habits, identifies and immediately reports any unsafe conditions to the registered nurse.
- Identifies any life-threatening environmental hazards immediately, takes appropriate action, and report's findings to the registered nurse.
- Identifies potential risk and takes necessary precautions to ensure the safety of the patient.
- Uses appropriate equipment for appropriate activity.

The Charles George VAMC currently has one (1) opening in Primary Care. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a member of the healthcare team, who performs a variety of nursing skills specific to the clinical needs of patients in the Primary Care Unit and under supervision of a Registered Nurse.
The Licensed Practical Nurse practices in a complex patient care setting in collaboration with interdisciplinary colleagues and the department nurse/unit manager. The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) is responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing care to Veterans in the Asheville VAMC. The primary duties of the Licensed Practical Nurse may vary by assignment. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
