    Overview:

    Abacus Technology is seeking a Server Operations and Infrastructure Engineer to provide technical support and guidance for the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB). This is a full-time position that can be on-site, hybrid, or remote.

    Responsibilities:
    • Advise, design, and oversee the administration of server environment.
    • Provide administration of Windows domain infrastructure, virtualization utilizing VMWare, to include DR Test/Preparedness and server OS and application security patching.
    • Advise, develop, enhance, and mentor the management of 2-way trust Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS and DHCP.
    • Design and control Virtual Machine templates that can be used to rapidly deploy virtual machines on Azure VMware.
    • Build and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Disaster Recovery (DR) documentation, equipment and connectivity diagrams, and system documentation to include inventory of equipment, software/application license renewals, and server certificates.
    • Understand the Change Control process according to RRB Standards.
    • Create, work, execute, and document change requests.
    • Mentor Systems Engineers and provide cross-training to ensure there are no single points of failure.
    • Represent team in meetings as required for area(s) of responsibilities.
    Qualifications:

    8+ years experience in server operations and systems administration in an enterprise environment including experience in a lead role. Associates degree in a related field desired. Must hold one of the following certifications: MCSA, MCSE, and/or VCP. Expert level understanding of Windows Operating System: Server 2012-R2, Server 2016 and Server 2019. Expert level understanding of networking; subnetting, VLAN segmentation, and related routing and switching principles. Experience with Microsoft Windows Server environment including Azure, Active Directory Group policies, Active Directory Domain Services, Active Directory Federated Services, SFTP, Server Certificates, DHCP, and DNS. Experience with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Microsoft Windows servers running Microsoft Windows Server 2016/2019. Experience keeping IT equipment and IT services running including troubleshooting and fixing IT enterprise issues such as Microsoft operating system, active directory, group policies, server, and hardware issues such as servers, and appliances. Experience with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of VMware vSphere technologies: vCenter, ESX/ESXi. Experience with Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS and DHCP. Knowledge of Distributed File Shares, Exchange Online/Office365, SQL Servers, SAN management, and administration. Experience supporting Microsoft Azure virtual environment including installation, configuring, troubleshooting break-fix, and performing upgrades. Must be willing to provide support outside normal business hours to support planned projects or emergency outages. Must be a US citizen.
