Overview
The Police Officer's primary responsibility is to promote community order and protect life and property through the preservation of the public peace, prevention of crime and enforcement of laws. Hudson Police Department is committed to the philosophy of community-oriented policing in dealing with the issues of the day. At the commencement of employment, police officer – laterals and entry level recruits will begin their field training program. The length of the field training program may be modified based upon performance and experience. Duties
- Patrols assigned areas of the city, responds to emergency calls and situations, enforces laws, ordinances, and regulations, investigates accidents, criminal and misdemeanor offenses, provides traffic and crowd control, issues citations and makes arrests, subdues and restrains resistive and/or combative individuals; provides backup and assistance as needed.
- Prepares and completes police reports, and testifies in court.
- Operates a motor vehicle safely and efficiently under, and at times, extremely stressful and hazardous conditions, such as in the case of responding to emergency calls in congested traffic areas or severe weather conditions.
- Observes and is cognizant of situations and/or conditions brought to the Officer's awareness through the various senses which may require appropriate police action.
- Communicates verbally and in writing and follows oral and written instructions as provided.
- Must establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers, public officials, representatives from federal, state and local organizations and agencies and the general public.
- Must provide a high level of customer service by being courteous, responsive, respectful and helpful in all interactions with superiors, co-workers, public officials, representatives from federal, state and local organizations and agencies and the general public.
- Must have regular, reliable and punctual attendance and comply with City rules and policies.
- Performs other related duties and special assignments, as assigned.
Requirements
- Ohio Peace Officers Commission Training certificate
- Valid Ohio Driver's License
- High school diploma or equivalent. Associate degree and/or bachelor's degree preferred.
- A minimum of 21 years of age
- Eligible to work in the United States

Pay: $68, $90,792.00 per year
