Position Summary & Responsibilities:

Location: KDA Headquarters in Manhattan, Kansas.
This role serves as administrator of the Weights and Measures program and is responsible for overseeing the Kansas weights and measures statutes
Administration . This role involves developing program budget goals and objectives to ensure statutory duties are carried out effectively. The role includes preparing the Weights and Measures program budget for review and overseeing program expenditures. The role also involves evaluating current statutes and regulations, drafting revisions, and collaborating with supervisors and legal teams.
Enforcement . This role ensures consistent application of all statutes, rules, and regulations related to the Weights and Measures program. Responsibilities include conducting inspections, testing, certifications, and enforcement actions where necessary. Collaboration with relevant parties is essential.
Supervision . This role entails guiding, coordinating, and supervising program staff. Direct supervision of specific roles and performance reviews are part of the responsibilities. Identifying training needs, ensuring maintenance of certifications, and upskilling staff are key aspects of this role.
Agency Representation . This role represents the Kansas Department of Agriculture in professional associations and works to maintain consistency with national standards.
Other Duties . This role may involve additional tasks as requested by the Office of the Secretary of Agriculture. Advising on policy development is also part of the role.
