    Saint Joseph Notre Dame High School is a co-educational Catholic parish high school located in the heart of residential Alameda, just minutes from downtown Oakland.

    SJND offers academic excellence and moral development to its diverse and talented 450 students.

    Position:
    The director of development is responsible for providing innovative and strategic leadership of institutional advancement at SJND.

    The director of development articulates all campaign strategies, participates in identification, cultivation and solicitation of prospects; oversees all advancement activities; and develops and manages the schools strategic plan as relates to fundraising priorities, goals and objectives.

    This important member of administration assists the principal in leading the fundraising and marketing teams in order to achieve the fullest attainment of the schools unique Catholic mission.

    The director of development reports directly to the principal and will be a member of the schools senior leadership team.

    They work closely with the principal and advancement committee of the board of trustees to involve the SJND community in the life of the school encouraging contributions of time, talent and treasure.


    Director of development Responsibilities:
    Partners with the advancement team, faculty/staff, board members and other volunteers to achieve fundraising goals.
    Leads all fundraising initiatives including annual fund, capital, endowment, event fundraising, and foundation and corporate contributions.

    Leads the advancement, admissions, and marketing teams .Conducts prospect research and manages a portfolio of major donor prospects towards solicitation and stewardship.

    Provides prospect research and solicitation and stewardship strategies to the principal, and members of the board or trustees and others as needed.

    Solicits a measurable number of major and planned gifts annually while growing a pipeline of new opportunities to support future solicitations.

    Records outcome of face-to-face or virtual visits with donor prospects.
    Strategizes community sources of funding through grants and corporations, both locally and nationally.

    Prepares or delegates preparation of written and verbal proposals, concept and informational materials, endowment and planned giving agreements, and other materials needed to secure grants, sponsorships and major gifts in collaboration with colleagues, as appropriate.

    Manages endowment and scholarship programs.

    Serves as the school administrator for the ex-officio member of the Jawad Education Fund Board and serves on the advancement committee of the board of trustees.

    Oversees and collaborates with the Manager of Communications and Marketing as it relates to alumni, parents, donors and community members.

    Oversees the advancement teams personnel activities, including the hiring, definition of job responsibilities, and performance review process of each staff memberOversees a comprehensive alumni relations and strategic planning and execution of recruiting plan established each year.

    Supports and participates in all aspects of the schools strategic planning processes.
    Use systems and software to track and cultivate donors and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools.
    Other duties assigned by the Principal.

    Experience, Qualifications and SkillsProven record of success in reaching and exceeding fundraising goals, particularly in regards to cultivating donors of major gifts.

    Experience as a proven problem solver, critical thinker, and change agent who can adapt to new situations and challenges with determination and a positive outlook.

    Demonstrates commitment to building a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable working and learning environment.

    Collaborative skills to work effectively with the principal, board of trustees, faculty, staff and volunteers along with the ability to maintain confidentiality and to exhibit good judgment in making decisions.

    Proven success in training, managing, and mentoring a talented and strong advancement team.
    Proven ability to establish objectives, set performance standards, and organize and motivate a team to achieve goals.
    Ability to manage multiple priorities/projects simultaneously.
    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact comfortably with a variety of people.
    Excellent oral and written communications skills.

    Bachelor's Degree and at least five years of relevant experience preferredExcellent organizational and computer skills Google Suite, Microsoft Office and database management as well as budgeting experience.

    Basic understanding of Raisers Edge Database preferred.

    Start Date:

    July 1, 2024Compensation/Benefits:
    Salary range is $100,000 to $140,000 depending on experience and skills.

    The school offers a comprehensive benefit package which includes participation in the Diocese of Oakland pension plan (8% employer contribution) and retirement program (403b), and full medical, visual, and dental plans.
