    Job Description

    Under the direction of the Clinic Supervisor, this position is responsible to answering office telephone calls, managing tasks for the providers, submission of referrals, ability to access, understand, and process tasks and duties in the electronic medical records system, have HEDIS and I-Star knowledge and participation, and act under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor. They must maintain adherence to policies, procedures and regulations of the Company and participate in an interdisciplinary and inter-facility approach to achieving the mission, philosophy, and goals of the Company. The Medical Clerk will interact with other departments, clinic personnel, and outside providers in a professional and friendly manner, to create and maintain a positive relationship with our internal and external customers.
    • Greet patients courteously, eye contact, and smile.
    • Exhibit proper telephone etiquette.
    • Receive and process incoming calls. Able to handle multi-line telephones.
    • Knowledge of appointment scheduling in accordance with the Company guidelines.
    • Update patient information in Next Gen.
    • Be familiar with insurance contracts and unacceptable insurances.
    • Schedule referral appointments per protocol.
    • Maintain and manage referral logs
    • Update reception, eligibility, medical records and nursing staff or all changes to schedules throughout the day.
    • Responsible for managing the "tasks" that includes clearing tasks inbox daily, sending and receiving tasks.
    • Work as a back-up reception.
    • Monitor NextMD message retrieval and responses.
    • Handle complaints in a responsible and professional manner.
    • Maintain a clean work area.
    • Assist with submission of referrals for the providers and case managers as appropriate, utilizing online process when applicable.
    • Able to create and send tasks through HER
    • Take messages and answer them in a timely matter through EHR.
    • Stay current on Next Gen, EZ CAP updates.
    • Manage and follow the process for primary care provider (PCP) changes.
    • Process all incoming correspondence ensuring the following are completed prior to giving to the provider: must have patient's chart number, last visit, next visit date, refill requests, reports, results, paperwork.
    • Send/Task prescription refill request to providers
    • Monitor/Manage facsimile and mail.
    • Other duties assigned by the supervisor.
    • Responsible to ensure that recent results of any test are retrieved and are ready for Provider to review.
    • Knowledge of patient forms:
    • DMV
    • Physical
    • Handicap placard
    • Disability, etc.
    • Understand the referral process and how to advise patients.
    • Responsible to retrieve Hospital records in the event a patient was seen in the Hospital.
    • Responsible for managing the "tasks" that includes clearing tasks daily, sending and receiving tasks.
    • Will act as the Provider liaison for patients, will answer calls and do all you can to work with the Provider to obtain an answer or solution to their questions.
    • Other duties assigned by the Supervisor.
    Requirements

    8.1 High school graduation required.

    8.2 Degree in Medical Assistant and within 6 months become a RMA or CCMA.

    8.3 Knowledge of computers.

    8.4 Working knowledge of Appointment Scheduling preferred.

    8.5 Knowledge of medical field/insurances preferred

    8.6 BLS required

    8.7 Bilingual Preferred

    The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $24.27 and $28.55 however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a sign-on bonus, restricted stock units, and discretionary awards in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as vacation, sick time, and parental leave), dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

    If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
