    JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
    Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40

    Work Shift: 7 on 7 off rotation paired with Physician; (M-F) 7AM-7PM, (Sat & Sun) 7AM-5PM


    Job Summary:
    Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - with specific education and training in the care of Intensive Care patients. He/she is employed by St. Tammany Health System (STHS) for the purpose of coordinating the care of the critical care patients.


    The Advanced Practice Registered Nurse - works in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Northlake Pulmonary Associate physicians and in association with members of the Intensivist care team (Surgical and Medical ICU) in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the intensive care patient in the provider role.

    A formal collaborative agreement is a requirement.

    Major areas of responsibilities include:
    In house management of the intensive care patients.

    He/she will manage the critical and non-critical patients in the Intensive Care Units and the Neuro Intensive Care Unit, participate in multidisciplinary rounds and quality initiatives, etc.

    He/she will provide in-house coverage for the Intensive Care patients and is required to work primarily the night shift and alternate other shifts, weekends, and/or holidays as indicated.

    The primary duties of the Nurse Practitioner under the supervision of the Intensivist include:


    • Perform and document a H&P and or Consultation co-signed by the physician within 24 hours
    • Rounding
    • Placing orders for appropriate diagnostic and treatment modalities s part of the care plan
    • Following up on Diagnostic Test Results
    • Documentation in the Progress Notes
    • Performing hospital discharges and documenting a discharge summary
    • Formalized patient handoffs as part of continuity of care
    • Effective communication with patients, families and colleagues on the care team

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Minimum Masters Prepared: Curriculum must include didactic in clinical experience in Acute Care
    • 1 year experience as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse preferred
    • ICU Experience preferred
    • Current Louisiana Registered Nurse License (RN)
    • Current Louisiana Advanced Practice Registered Nurse Licensure (APRN)
    • Eligible for limited prescriptive authority in Louisiana as approved by St Tammany Health System

    Physical Demands:
    Must possess good physical health. Some requirements include but are not limited to standing, sitting or walking for long periods of time. Lifting at least 50 pounds is required. Must be able to work with a moderate level of noise.


    Physical Effort required:
    Constant (67%-100%) - seeing and hearing

    Frequently (34%-66%) - lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, reaching, handling/feeling, talking

    Occasionally (1%-33%) - climbing (stairs, ladders, etc.), stooping, crouching
