    Primary Responsibilities:

    Technical Production:
    Ensure adherence to established best practices in template/pattern construction, supporting documentation, and production processes.
    Utilize various production software tools and technologies to compose pages.
    Develop project templates and annotated sample pages to meet ongoing program/product needs.
    Direct/manage the creation of templates/patterns and produce materials and content to published guidelines and specifications.
    Review template construction for compliance with best practices and production processes, and remediate as necessary.
    Work with project template/pattern libraries and sample pages/screens; modify them as required to fulfill ongoing program/product needs.
    Apply Accessibility tagging and/or remediation to production files in alignment with HMH best practices and WCAG compliance.
    Support HMH's ePub authoring system (Inkling Habitat) project creation and updates within our digital product content management system. Troubleshoot processing errors and solve or escalate as needed.

    Processes, Standards, & Documentation:
    Lead, drive, participate in, and contribute to the development of processes and standards for the functional area.

    Drive quality through adherence to, and supporting best practice processes and procedures, including the maintenance of documentation on shared file systems.

    Plan and implement improvement initiatives (e.g., methodologies and documentation) for the functional area.

    Excellence in Execution:
    Identify issues/events that may impact resources, schedule, budget, scope, and/or delivery. Escalate risks and issues to appropriate parties and provide recommendations for problem-solving.
    Ensure adherence to established strategy and best practice development, process, file server management, and quality deliverables.
    Provide functional/technical expertise and troubleshoot on projects throughout the production lifecycle.

    Effective Communication & Collaboration:


    Articulate clear, meaningful program/product status, highlighting progress made, risks and issues, milestone accomplishments, and improvements in innovation, simplicity, and quality.

    Establish collaborative program/product partnerships with cross-functional peers and external partners to accomplish goals.
    Monitor progress of program/product assignments, coordinating updates and working closely with cross-functional peers to drive product development efforts forward.

    Participate fully in scrum rituals including sprint planning, daily scrums, demos, sprint reviews, and retrospectives for assigned program/product development efforts.

    Demonstrate a continuous improvement philosophy throughout the product development lifecycle, identifying areas for improvement in pursuit of simplicity, quality, and innovation.


    Vendor Management:
    Assist vendors in the use of new templates, guidelines and specifications, processes, or software.

    Skills:
    3+ years of experience in page composition and digital production.
    2+ years of experience with authoring/composition systems and related technologies.
    Production workflow experience in print/digital technologies.
    Familiarity with WCAG Accessibility requirements for digital products.
    Basal print and/or digital product creation.
    Awareness of content authoring, integrated publishing systems, content management systems, file store, and page/screen composition technology.
    Solid organizational skills, effective written and verbal communication capabilities, proficiency in technical/computer-related tasks, and effective problem-solving skills.

    Education:
    BS/BA degree; Associated degree or related work experience.
