    The Driver Supervisor will oversee and direct the work performed by regional commercial Drivers to ensure timely, safe, and efficient logistics operations.

    Essential Functions

    1. Responsible for training, developing, and motivating a group of regional Drivers to achieve the Company's production goals.
    2. In collaboration with Regional Safety and Maintenance Managers, schedules and monitors routine vehicle maintenance and safety compliance.
    3. Conducts random truck maintenance inspections and ensures Driver compliance with required inspection reporting.
    4. Monitor driver performance; conduct performance evaluations, safety training, and provide real time feedback and guidance when necessary.
    5. Builds, distributes, and manages Driver assignments through a digital routing system to ensure all POs are adequately staffed and covered for transportation and delivery activities; uses independently contracted trucks when needed.
    6. Consults with harvesting managers to plan deliveries for the next day.
    7. In collaboration with Regional Transportation Manager, monitors inventory via an enterprise resource planning system or similar control system.
    8. Identifies, investigates, and resolves delays in shipping operations, ensuring delivery deadlines are met.
    9. Responds appropriately to accidents and other emergency situations.
    10. Oversees compliance with traffic and safety regulations and applicable local, state and federal driving rules; reports violations in accordance with the Company's safety policy.
    11. Direct the movement of inbound, outbound, third party, and Super-Sod products to meet customer requirements.
    12. Builds and maintains positive relationships with customers; addresses complaints and works to resolve them quickly.
    13. Maintains constant contact with Drivers to ensure communication from customers and Company administrative support is properly provided.
    14. Assists customer service representatives with order status inquiries and special customer needs; determines appropriate action to include in-transit visibility.
    15. Prepares reports related to system services, costs, payroll, expenditures, fuel use, maintenance, and overall progress.
    16. Approve freight exceptions on freight bills and purchase orders.
    17. Assist HR with implementation and execution of Driver screening processes, as required by law and policy.
    18. Provides input to management team regarding transportation operating efficiency to improve overall cost, service and/or performance.
    19. Performs other related duties as assigned.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This is a managerial role which requires the direct and effective oversight of the Hauling team including hiring, corrective action, performance improvement, and termination. Must demonstrate excellent time management, coordination, and self-management skills.

    Work Environment

    This job operates primarily in a professional retail or administrative office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, e-filing systems, and fax machines. The employee will be expected to work outside in all weather conditions and must have suitable clothing. They must have the ability and willingness to work in adverse conditions, not just including extreme weather but enclosed spaces. The employee will be expected to work around and with machinery that distributes loud noises and exhaust. Personal Protective gear is provided by the employer. This position may require handling and operating heavy equipment which may introduce a high risk to slips, trips and falls.

    Physical Demands

    The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. While this position is primarily sedentary, the employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift products and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds. Must be able to get in and out of commercial trucks to perform inspection. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.

    Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

    This is a full-time position, expected to work 45 hours per week. Days and hours can change at the discretion of the Logistics Director; though typical hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. Some weekend hours will be necessary, typically in our busier harvesting season (typically March-August from 7 a.m. to 12 p.m.).

    Travel

    This position requires up to 20% travel time.

    Required Education and Experience

    1. High school degree and business discipline.
    2. Minimum 3+ years of dispatch, or supervisorial experience in supply chain, distribution or transportation reporting roles or related experience.
    3. Exceptional interpersonal, customer service, leadership, problem-solving, verbal and written communication, and conflict resolution skills.
    4. Knowledgeable on FMCSA and DOT regulations.
    5. Proficient in Logistics Software.
    6. Must be 19 years of age or older.
    7. Pre-employment background check and drug screening required.

    Preferred Education and Experience

    1. Experience with FMCSA and DOT regulations specific to Agricultural shipping laws.
    2. Experience with turfgrass sod and seed in a retail setting.
    3. Bachelor's degree in business administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or similar field.
    4. Class A CDL experience is a plus.
    5. Bilingual skills (Spanish/English) strongly preferred but not required.
    6. Proficient in CRM software (HubSpot, SingleOps)

    To perform essential job duties, all potential new hires must be eligible to drive a company vehicle according to Super-Sod insurance guidelines. Requirements:

    1) Must possess a valid driver's license
    2) No major safety and moving violations reported on MVR within the past (3) years. Major violations include:

    • Felony convictions
    • Automobile insurance canceled or not renewed by an insurance company due to excessive tickets, accidents, points, or fraud.
    • Convicted of alcohol or drug related offense while driving.
    • Convicted of three or more speeding violations or serious moving violations; moving violations include texting or cell phone violations.
    • Been involved in two or more chargeable accidents.
