Early Career Environmental Engineer
for our
San Diego, CA
office.
Be involved in projects with our Earth & Environment Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client's objectives and solves their challenges.
The ideal candidate will be excited about the opportunity to maintain and grow our environmental consulting business and possess knowledge and technical skills in storm water management, NPDES compliance, hazardous materials and hazardous waste inventory and management planning, tank management, and solid waste management.
Perform site audits for various environmental media.
Consulting for federal storm water compliance projects
Work with project managers and other experienced staff to support environmental compliance projects
Perform field work following Wood's training program, including subcontractor management, field testing for various water media, monitoring sample collection systems, performing operation & maintenance functions sample collection equipment, and documenting field activities
Set up field projects, including permitting; hiring subcontractors; coordinating with staff, laboratories, and subcontractors; and obtaining necessary equipment
Participating in engineering analysis and design
Ensure projects are performed safely
Perform data review and management
Prepare reports documenting field and other efforts
Assist the Project Manager and team in ensuring effective client and regulatory agency communication and relations
Follow company safety standards, site safety standards and provides all required permitting
Willingness to travel to project sites throughout California and the West Coast
Maintain a positive attitude and be a team player.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Civil, Chemical, or Environmental, Environmental Science, Chemistry, or a related field.
0 to 1 years of experience working in the environmental compliance field.
Ability to read, interpret and apply information on State and Federal technical guidance, and regulations, and compliance determinations.
Must have the ability to obtain security clearance to access military installations
Organized and time management skills
Capable interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and in writing, and professionally to a scientific and non-scientific audience.
Ability to learn new techniques, perform multiple tasks simultaneously, follow instruction, work independently, and comply with company policies.
Proficiency with MS Office:
Word, Excel, and Powerpoint
Critical thinking and problem-solving skills required to reach conclusions from testing results, data collation, and statistical analyses.
Willingness to work more than 8 hours per day when necessary for project success and the flexibility to work outside of business hours, when necessary.
Physical Demands
Field activities may require working in unfavorable weather conditions
Ability to stoop, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds
Working in a standing position for the majority of the field work day
Ability to drive a large pick-up truck
Ability to use hands to operate field equipment
Ability to obtain a contractors identification card to access military bases.
Close, distance, and peripheral vision; normal auditory function
Must complete pre-employment fit for duty physical demonstrating ability to meet job requirements

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $55,400 - $91,300
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
