- Advanced knowledge of horticulture and landscapes.
- Possess advanced knowledge of plants, greenhouse systems, and modern landscape practices.
- Work and collaborate with other team members.
- Ability to operate equipment such as mowers, trimmers, chemical sprayers, various hand tools, and related equipment.
- Possess or ability to obtain a valid Kentucky Pesticide Applicator's certification – category 3.
- Ability to spray herbicide and insecticides.
- Possess a valid driver's license and submit successfully to a DMV and background check.
- Ability to operate, maintain and check maintenance equipment including but not limited to trucks, skid steer loaders and mowers.
- Be able to drive a manual transmission truck.
- Ability to work closely with horses.
- Ability to work safely high above ground level.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move a minimum of ten (10) pounds, frequently lift and/or move twenty-five (25) pounds and occasionally lift and/or move fifty (50) pounds.
- Must be able to regularly sit, stand, climb, balance, stoop, walk, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to manipulate tools and equipment, and repetitively reach with hands and arms.
- Must be comfortable working off ladders in off the ground work environments.
- Working hours vary. Weekends and holiday work is mandatory.
- While performing duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.
- Five (5) years of horticulture or landscape full time work or 2 year college degree in horticulture or related field.
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
