    Essential Responsibilities

    • Perform complete pre- and post-operation inspections of your vehicle to ensure tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, gauges, and controls are in proper working order.
    • Safely operate your heavy truck along your designated route and to the disposal site; read route sheets, follow maps, and service each customer as identified on the route sheet or as assigned by dispatchers and/or supervisors.
    • Operate manual and/or automatic controls in accordance with Company safety policies and procedures to lift and load refuse, operate compactors, and dispose of collected material at the designated facility.
    • Courteously interact with all customers, dispatchers, and others on a daily basis to ensure all customer routes are serviced in a timely and professional manner.
    • Identify unsatisfactory waste containers and tag containers in accordance with applicable departmental procedures.
    • Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste, clean areas around accidental waste spills, and adhere to all applicable safety standards and policies.
    • Continuously monitor the condition of your vehicle to ensure it's operationally ready at all times to minimize downtime; clean waste from packer blades and truck bodies (where appropriate) on each disposal trip.
    • Complete required route/productivity sheets, VCRs, and other reports, as required, and maintain adherence to required productivity standards for the department.
    • Follow all required safety policies and procedures.

    Education and Experience

    • Hold a Clean Class A or B Commercial Driver's license and DOT physical card.
    • Possess two years of prior driving commercial trucks, preferred.
    • Be able to read and write legibly.
    • Comply with company policy on controlled substances and alcohol.
    • Work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Exhibit strong customer service skills to meet and exceed customer expectations; act professionally, courteously, and cooperatively towards customers and coworkers; work with honesty and trustworthiness.
    • Utilize excellent time management skills to ensure assigned responsibilities are completed efficiently and safely.
    • Show good follow-through ability; adhere to work schedules and follow through on challenges as they arise.
    • Maintain a feeling of pride in work; strive to achieve all goals.
