Charge Nurse - Pediatric Rehab - Full Time/Nights


JOB SUMMARY:

This position is accountable for managing the overall operations of a defined patient care unit during an assigned shift.

The incumbent is accountable for monitoring, evaluation, and directing patient care provided by staff, coordinating activities of the patient care unit, making staff assignments and assisting with the development and evaluation of staff members.

The incumbent will assist with the recruitment and hiring of staff, evaluating staff competency and evaluating, coaching, and counseling assigned staff in concert with the Manager/Supervisor.

This position practices within the scope of the Nursing Practice Act, and in accordance with Children's policies.

As the only pediatric rehabilitation program in the region,our expert team offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient care.

Ourmulti-professional team provides specialized therapies and nursing care totreat conditions ranging from common to the most unusual and complex inpatients from birth to young adult.

Our 20-bed unit is accredited as an Inpatient RehabilitationPediatric Specialty Program by the Commission on Accreditation ofRehabilitation Facilities (CARF) making Valley Children's one of only twopediatric facilities in the state with this impressive designation, and one ofonly five on the West Coast.

CARF Accreditation is an internationallyrecognized award that is given to organizations that demonstrate commitment toproviding the highest quality care and services.

REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires:
A) a Bachelor'sDegree.

BSN strongly preferred; B) an active California Registered Nurselicensure (RN); C) Life Support Certifications (see specifics below); and D) aminimum of 2 years full time or equivalent nursing experience.

Pediatricexperience preferred. Bilingual skills desirable.

Support Certifications Required:1) HeartCode Basic LifeSupport (BLS) within 30 days; 2) Pediatric Emergency Assess, Resuscitation& Stabilization (PEARS) within 12 months of hire or transfer into position.

POSITIONDETAILS:
Full Time, 6 shifts per pay period, weekends and holidays are required on rotation.
