Duties:

• Provide guidance to engineers and technical staff on geotechnical exploration capabilities, testing methods, industry standards, and drilling procedures.
• Advise on challenging site conditions such as excessive groundwater, unstable excavations, slopes, or geologic risks.
• Create final-design data submissions, drawings, and construction geology reports.
• Document geotechnical construction activities, conduct foundation mapping, and prepare geologic construction documentation.
• Execute field investigations and aquifer testing to assess groundwater and complex geologic issues.

Requirements:

Conditions of Employment:

- U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Nationality required.
- Suitable for federal employment following a background check.

- Meet minimum education and/or experience requirements.
- Maintain a valid State Driver's License.

Qualifications:

To be considered:
A. Bachelor's degree in geology plus 20 additional semester hours in related fields.
-OR-
B. Combination of education and experience equivalent to the above.

To qualify at GS-11, demonstrate specialized experience or higher education.

To qualify at GS-12, show experience in finalizing construction specifications, cost estimates, risk analysis, dewatering programs, and preparing construction geology reports.

Experience includes paid and voluntary work that provides relevant skills.
