    Description
    Ideal for someone who is already working or retired but would like to pick up extra shifts.

    Must have a valid Seattle 4th Grade Boiler Fireman license.
    The Operator is responsible for day-to-day operations associated with tasks of boiler operations and steam production to the facility.

    This position will require the candidate to gain full knowledge of the Steam Operations including preventative maintenance, maintenance, and process operations.

    Good mechanical and problem-solving skills are a plus.

    MINIMUM EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum 5 years of boiler operations experience
    • Knowledge of and experience working with hazardous materials
    • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical motor skills.
    • Basic knowledge of water chemistry.

    LIST of DUTIES:


    This list is an outline of day to day functions of the Boiler Operator but the job is not limited to these functions.


    • Ensure strict adherence to all safety procedures and regulations.
    • Ensure compliance to all quality practices.
    • Performing field operations including but not limited to checklists,
    instrument readings, and any quality related issues

    • Performing preventive maintenance inspections on equipment
    • Preparing equipment for maintenance and routine service
    • Performing housekeeping and cleaning in and around process area
    • Shutting down the Steam Operations Process in the event of an
    emergency

    • Assisting the other Plant Operators as needed
    • Works with the facility operations team on process and operations to
    identify needs to maximize capacity utilization

    • Learning, observing, and following all department safety and
    housekeeping rules, regulations, and practices

    • Reporting all hazards and unsafe conditions or practices for
    corrective action

    • Maintaining accurate records for items measurements, readings and
    issues.

    • Conduct inventory and maintain inventory at proper level
    • Advanced troubleshooting skills (pumps, filters, tanks, etc.)
    • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and take corrective action
    within an industrial setting


    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Perform duties as necessitated by employee absence of workload.
    • Possess a strong commitment to and respect for Safety and
    Environmental issues requiring close attention to detail and
    processes.

    • Must be able to work in an industrial environment exposed to weather

    conditions:
    heat, cold wind, rain, high humidity

    • Must be able to work with others or alone without close supervision
    • Must be able to work overtime as needed on a short notice
    • Ability to wear and work in full body PPE (personal protection
    equipment)

    • Must be able to pass criminal background and drug test.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Physical activities include pushing, pulling, moving equipment
    weighing up to 50 pounds, stooping, kneeling, crouching or climbing

    • Stand for long periods
    • Stand on hard surface: including concrete, tile, metal grating
    • Sit for long periods
    • Use hand/eye coordination for detail work
    • Reach with hands and arms
    • Climb stairs and/or ladders
    • Maintain balance
    • Work while standing on an uneven surface
    • Twisting
    • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
    • Bending

    Schedule:

    • 12 hour shift
    • Holidays
    • Overtime
    • Weekend availability

    Shift availability:

    • Day Shift
    • Night Shift

    Experience:
    Programmable Logic Controllers: 3 years (Preferred)

    Maintenance: 5 years (Required)


    License/Certification:

    • Seattle Stationary Engineer License, 1st Grade
