Summary

The Home Health Aid/Homemaker (HHA/HMKER) Nursing Assistant will provide direct patient care to patients in the home setting who require assistance with ADLs and IADLs under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The Nursing Assistant is accountable for adhering to the standards of care, standards of practice and maintaining competencies with roles and responsibilities, while adhering to the established Oklahoma City Veterans' Health Care System policies and procedures.

Duties

Nursing Assistant -

The duties of the Home Health Aid/Homemaker Nursing Assistant working with Nursing Services (Geriatrics and Extended Care) are the following, but are not limited to:

Assisting with personal hygiene tasks in the patient's residence
Positioning and moving patients in the patient's residence
Use of personal protective equipment as required and following isolation procedures
Recognize emergency situations and initiate emergency procedures
Records vital signs and report changes to the Registered Nurse
Assess patient pain levels using approved rating scales, records responses and report information to the Registered Nurse
Collect and deliver specimens as directed
Utilizing a government provided vehicle to commute for patient home visits and running errands for patients
Completing light housekeeping duties such as dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, dish washing, etc.
Assist with simple meal preparation

Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm, tours and hours may vary based on the needs of the service and the patient

Government Service Automobile(GSA) approved for use during work hours to complete home visits.

Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases

Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)

Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.

Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.

Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)
