    Overview:


    Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce image of organ on photographic film.

    Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers, and scintillation detectors. Administers therapeutic doses of radiopharmaceuticals under direction of physician. Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Experience Required

    Education/Licensure: Must a graduate of an accredited nuclear medicine program and eligible for the nuclear medicine registry.

    Experience: One year of hospital experience preferred, but new graduates considered.

    Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the conclusion of the orientation period. Must have excellent communication skills with the ability to work in a fast paced environment, requiring prioritizing and changing tasks frequently and quickly.
