    A Day in the Life of the Career Technical Education Intern:

    Accompany & observe Transport dept technicians for commercial installs/trouble calls @ customer premises
    Fiber pre-testing for commercial installations
    Testing and troubleshooting fiber using an OTDR, optical power meter, fiber identifier and scope
    Maintain a positive attitude and strong work ethic that can provide high productivity
    Perform all work as necessary to conform to quality control guidelines (includes compliance with requirements outlined in applicable regulations such as: OSHA, FCC, NESC and NEC, etc; as well as following procedures as outlined in the Installation, Technical, Operations, and Safety Manuals, and Employee Handbook)
    Clean and maintain equipment
    Other duties as assigned

    What You Bring to the Table:
    Current Senior at Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in good standing with (and recommended by) the Instructor of the CTE (Electronics & Fiber Optic) Program
    Ability to adhere to Local, Federal regulations and Company policies
    Previous exposure with construction equipment, hand tools, fusion splicer, OTDR, fiber identifiers and scope
    Appropriate technical & verbal skills
    Appropriate technical & written & reporting skills
    Must have good organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and organize effectively
    Ability to interact effectively with other team members.
    Basic understanding of Outlook, Excel and Word.
    Work indoors in poorly ventilated areas such as attics during extreme heat
    Ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds
    Work outdoors in all kinds of weather during internship scheduled hours
    Work performed near power lines and electricity
    Work and travel in inclement weather

    Paid Time Off/Vacation:
    Starting at 80 hours per year, and increases based on tenure with the organization

    Floating Holiday: 40 hours per year

    Astound allows a number of paid sick hours per calendar year and varies based on state and/or local laws
