Who You Are:

• A highly motivated data scientist, machine learning engineer, or experienced software engineer looking to transition into machine learning
• Comfortable on a broad range of the spectrum from pure analyst to pure data engineer, but have a bias towards the engineering side – especially model development, deployment, and maintenance
• An independent thinker, able to work autonomously, capable of taking on loosely defined problems and translating complex thinking into practical application
• A communicative person who values building strong relationships with colleagues and partners and enjoys advocating for data science and machine learning
• Excited to use cutting-edge technologies to deliver real impact to real users.

What You Will Do:

You will be joining an experienced and high-impact team of machine learning engineers who are obsessed with our multimodal dataset (video, audio, image, user behavior, and nlp, every day) and how we can leverage machine learning to improve our core search algorithms and the Storyblocks product as a whole.

• Develop and integrate machine learning models to solve critical business problems
• Research, prototype, and deploy emerging tools and techniques in machine learning, statistical modeling & analytics
• Work with your teammates on maintaining, maturing, and growing our catalog of deployed machine learning features
• Develop research questions and undertake data exploration to understand who our users are, how they get value out of our library, and where we can develop our product to bring greater value
• Analyze data sets, transforming raw intelligence into concise and actionable insights
• Investigate interesting edge cases and odd unexpected model behaviors
• Triage and/or debug production issues
• Work closely with our team of analysts, product managers, and data engineers to build impactful, lasting, productions-scale data science solutions
• Design, analyze, and interpret the results of A/B tests
• Perform exploratory analyses to understand and monitor the performance of our machine learning systems
• Communicate the value of data science solutions to business

What You Bring to the Table:

Required

• 3+ years relevant applied experience in data science, machine learning, computer vision, or NLP (or very strong engineering skills and the ability to learn quickly)
• Strong coding skills in Python
• Experience with and curiosity about multiple types of data
• A strong understanding of data science best practices and statistics
• Technical competence to perform advanced analytics and building machine learning models
• Experience with MLOps tools, platforms, and standards (e.g. mlflow, airflow, databricks, sagemaker)
• Experience with standard engineering best practices (version control, virtualization, deployment pipelines)
• Able to communicate to both technical and non-technical audiences

Preferred

• Experience with spark, scala, and databricks

• Competitive and fair compensation: We believe in fair pay--equal pay for equal work. For each title, we consistently apply competitive salary bands based on market data and benchmarks which are reviewed twice a year. What you've been paid before, fear of conflict, or willingness to negotiate does not play a part in determining your pay.
• The annual base salary range for this position is $153,000 - $171,000. Placement within the range is determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to: knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.
• 401(k) retirement plan: We offer both a Traditional and Roth 401(k) with a company match.
