Medicaid Specialist Job Description

Jefferson County Schools seeks applicants for a Medicaid/Special Programs Compliance Specialist.

This position is responsible for overall management of the Medicaid billing program for special education services to secure maximal county revenue reimbursement for Jefferson County Schools.

In addition, the position coordinates the collection, entry, and storage of student special education records to ensure compliance with district, state, and federal guidelines.

In addition, provides general assistance to the Special Programs Department as needed.

Jefferson County Professional Salary Schedule, commensurate
with experience and education level including related stipend index

Start Date May 2024

Specialized Skills
A minimum of a Bachelor?s degree in business, medical administration or related fields

Requires a minimum of two years of related experience

Experience in IEP (Individualized Education Programs) Compliance and Medicaid Billing

Knowledge of Federal Medicaid requirements. Knowledge of IDEA and special education laws and regulations, HIPAA laws and regulations. Excellent interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to recommend and assist in the formulation and implementation of operating procedures and policies. Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and governmental regulations. Maintain confidentiality. Exercise analytical and independent judgment. Communicate effectively, and maintain cooperative relationships. Analyze situations accurately, and adopt an effective course of action. Prioritize, schedule, and provide work direction to others.

A successful work history and a minimum of three supervisory references required for consideration.
