    Job Summary

    The Journeyman Plumber is responsible for but not limited to installing, inspecting, and repairing fixtures, pipes, and plumbing systems in accordance to DNV and TXSBPE standards.


    Job Specific Responsibilities

    Daily assignments may include but are not limited to:


    • Perform regular maintenance of plumbing systems in the hospital and surrounding campuses
    • Install and inspect plumbing systems of new properties
    • Install new copper, PEX, cast iron and PVC pipe
    • Install plumbing fixtures
    • Work closely with other plumbers and maintenance workers to install and repair systems
    • Troubleshoot plumbing problems and make necessary repairs
    • Inventory tools and supplies; Please order on forecasted jobs
    • Perform minor HVAC installs (Install ducting and registers)
    • All other duties related assigned duties
    Education and Experience


    • High School Diploma or GED
    • Completion of a plumbing program from a recognized vocational/technical school or recognized apprenticeship program in plumbing systems
    Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations


    • TXSBPE Journeyman Plumbing license
    Skills and Abilities


    • Familiar with minor electrical, painting, mechanical repair and general building techniques
    • Familiarity with various plumbing systems, fixtures, and components
    • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical diagrams
    • Ability to use power tools such as sewer augers and vacuum plunger, acetylene torch, soldering, and welding equipment
    • Able to Interact with patients and visitors in a respectful and courteous manner
    Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships


    Internal:
    Requires close interaction with various departments within UMC

    Physical Capabilities

    Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and up to 100 pounds on occasion.

    Prolonged standing and frequent bending, stooping, and reaching on a daily basis. Requires a full range of physical motion in order ro operate manual and electrically powered tools and plumbing equipment.

    Environmental/Working Conditions

    This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures and minimal exposure to cleaning chemicals
