    Reviews claim files to identify, evaluate, analyze and interpret subrogation potential; coordinates appropriate steps to secure evidence and ensure pursuit, development and recovery of claims; evaluates completeness and accuracy of documentary evidence; records and processes all recovery payments; prepares and issues

    Essential Duties & Responsibilities


    • Performs a combination of duties in accordance with departmental guidelines.
    • Reviews claim files to identify, evaluate, analyze, and interpret subrogation potential.
    • Is responsible for subrogation activities including the identification and research of subrogation claims.
    • Identifies legal liability and pursues, negotiates, and settles claims where subrogation is identified.
    • Coordinates appropriate steps secure evidence and ensure pursuit, development, and recovery of claims.
    • Interacts with policyholders, claimants, and witnesses to recommend and document the necessary information to move forward with subrogation or close a file.
    • Analyzes claims activities; prepares and presents reports to management and other internal business partners and clients.
    • Assists claim handlers during the life of the claim file to request the necessary information needed to pursue subrogation.
    • Works closely with our TPA and MGA's to ensure that all avenues of subrogation are identified and pursued.
    • May provides guidance and assistance to less experienced claims staff and TPA's.
    • Ability to generate reports and collect data from the AXIS and TPA claim systems that accurately reflects claim recovery efforts and other information important to our business outcomes.
    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    • Advanced technical and product specific expertise, claims resolution skill and knowledge of insurance and claims principles, practices and procedures.
    • Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to effectively interact with all levels of internal and external business partners.
    • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.
    • Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues.
    • Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems.
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software.
    • Ability to adapt to change and value diverse opinions and ideas.

    • Ability to evaluate claims based on a cost benefit analysis.
    • Ability to fully comprehend complex claim facts and issues; and to further articulate analyses of claims in presentations to business partners and management as well as in internal reports.
    • Ability to implement strategies with a proactive long-term view of business goals and objectives.
    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designation preferred.
    • Typically a minimum of 10 years claims experience


    For this position, we currently expect to offer a base salary in the range of 100,000 to 130,000 (GA), 115,000 to 150,000 (NY, NJ).

    The specific salary offer will be based on an assessment of a variety of factors including the experience of the successful candidate and their work location.
