- Acts as a liaison between physicians and staff for the Interventional Radiology Program.
- Interacts with patient and/or appropriate family member to schedule procedure, educate patient/family member regarding the procedure and post procedure requirements, and follow-up.
- Acts as an ambassador of the Interventional Radiology Program, building relationships with referring physician offices and the patients that we service. Looks for opportunities to market our IR service line.
- Participates in program marketing issues and communication initiatives.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives.
- May participate in Interventional Radiology meetings as needed.
- Obtains appropriate information from ordering physician, physician office personnel, or hospital departments regarding study/treatment requested and pertinent clinical information and/or diagnosis.
- Obtains pertinent imaging cases and clinical data (history and physical, etc.) that the Interventional Radiology (IR) Physician will need prior to procedure approval.
- Provides IR physician with pertinent referral information so that they can approve the boarding of the exam. Retrieves cases that have been reviewed by IR physician.
- Once the IR physician has approved a procedure, prioritizes and coordinates procedures with appropriate locations and departments, assuring timeliness, correct sequencing and proper preparations.
- Notifies patient and/or appropriate family member of needed procedure. Verifies that the patient is not taking any medications that are a contraindication to the procedure being performed. Provides the patient with the scheduled test time, required preparations and when/how to report for testing and notified physician office of patient appointment times.
- Schedules patients for consult appointments. Performs basic vital checks on patients that are scheduled for consult appointments (temperature, blood pressure, history).
- Acts as a resource to physicians, departments, patients, families and other authorized personnel regarding studies and patient preparation.
- Acts as the contact person to assist patients who have post procedure complications and/or questions.
- Prepares and maintains statistical reports as directed by the Manager.
- Performs other related responsibilities as necessary.
- Associate degree in an allied health curriculum.
- One year clinical experience in an acute care setting or physician office.
- Experience in diagnostic imaging and patient scheduling coordination
- Graduate of Committee of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (AMA) Accredited Radiography Program orAmerican Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (A.R.D.M.S.) Program
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
or registered by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (A.R.D.M.S.), or Registered Nurse (RN). - Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
