    Description
    Responsibilities


    The Senior Accountant will assist in the preparation and review of financial statements to ensure their accuracy and timely completion for multiple entities.

    Maintains oversight of all accounting records including month end checklist and closing process, maintenance of the general ledger and financial forecasting models and has oversight of all accounting records.

    Responsible for timely and accurate monthly financial report preparation for multiple joint venture arrangements and wholly owned insurance company
    Prepare required monthly journal entries and daily cash transactions, etc. Maintain monthly accruals and prepare related journal entries.
    Responsible for modeling and forecasting current and future financial activity.
    Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages to be distributed to joint venture partners and senior management. Will attend and may lead financial review meetings with management.
    Prepare account reconciliation schedules, bank reconciliations, and supplemental schedules.

    Perform "budget to actual" comparison financial analysis, investigate significant variances and provide commentary related to long lived land development budgets within the joint ventures.

    Resolve accounting issues as they arise and follow up on discrepancies.

    Work with individuals in other departments within the company; Demonstrate a high degree of professionalism, good communication, and customer service skills with individuals both within and outside the organization.

    Assist in other corporate related accounting functions, such as:
    Validate sales commissions and process semi-monthly sales commissions to payroll.
    Assist in consolidated account reconciliation preparation and review
    Assist in other ad-hoc accounting projects on as needed basis

    Qualifications

    A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant field required
    A minimum of 3 years of direct accounting experience
    Strong communication skills, collaborating with other teams
    Strong Computer skills, advanced Microsoft Excel experience required ; proficient in MS Outlook
    Accounting software; experience with JD Edwards/Enterprise One, preferred
    Home building or related industry experience, strongly preferred
