    Bucks County 4-H Program Assistant

    Position Description

    Position Location: Penn State Extension – Bucks County

    Position Goal

    Support the Bucks County 4-H team in providing high quality positive youth development program experiences for existing as well as new youth audiences. The 4-H Bucks County 4-H Program Assistant will be responsible to the 4-H Educator. This year-round position focuses on supporting the 4-H Embryology and other school enrichment programs during the school year as well as 4-H enrichment program in the summer.

    Position Responsibilities

    1. Promote 4-H Embryology and school enrichment program opportunities to community partners (schools, libraries and other youth serving agencies).

    2. Provide training to new teachers and on-going support to experienced teachers leading the 4-H Embryology Project in their classrooms.

    3. Provide technical support to teachers in the areas of equipment operation and incubation for the 4-H Embryology Project.

    4. Procure program equipment, materials and supplies. Assist in the solicitation of financial and material donations for use at programs.

    5. Teach/lead educational programs and activities for youth.

    6. Monitor children and be responsible for the whereabouts, supervision, and safety of all children registered/in attendance for the program.

    7. Develop and implement summer curriculum plan.

    8. Arrange participation schedules and coordinate delivery of project materials and equipment.

    9. Obtain and process enrollment forms, program fees and impact evaluation forms.

    10. Submit time and travel reports for reimbursement by due date.

    11. Establish and maintain program files.

    12. Serve as a member of the 4-H staff team providing support to the general 4-H program administration, such as maintaining volunteer files, as requested.

    13. Support 4-H program marketing and promotion for outreach to new youth audiences across Bucks County.

    14. Assist the Extension Educators in reaching new and inclusive audiences in accordance with the Penn State University Affirmative Action Policy.

    Basic Skills Required

    1. Position requires excellent organizational, record keeping and time management skills, the ability to work independently.

    2. Must be a team player who can work with diverse youth and adults.

    3. Possess an understanding of youth development; be able to effectively interact with youth.

    4. Possess knowledge of educational principles and presentation preparation skills; ability to plan and teach activities and educational programs.

    5. Possess good communication skills needed for group presentations and individual communication with members, parents, leaders, teachers, and agency staff.

    6. Possess computer skills for creating documents and marketing pieces.

    7. Ability to communicate professionally (oral and written).

    8. Familiarity with the 4-H Program is preferred.

    9. Familiarity with Bucks County is preferred.

    10. Bachelor's degree is preferred; high school diploma is required.

    11. The candidate must be able to carry equipment and educational materials and supplies, with or without accommodation.

    12. Applicant must be willing to work flexible hours.

    This position requires the applicant to operate a motor vehicle as part of the job duties. A valid US driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.

    This job requires the following 3 publicly available clearances:

    · FBI Criminal Background Check

    Time Requirements

    20 hours/week, variable depending on the season of the year.

    Salary

    $18.00 per hour

    mileage for travel reimbursed.
