- Plan, develop, and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students with special needs
- Adapt and modify curriculum to meet the diverse learning needs of students
- Provide direct instruction and support to students in specialized settings (self-contained classrooms) as well as in mainstream classrooms (resource/inclusion settings)
- Collaborate with general education teachers, administrators, and other support staff to ensure student success
- Assess and monitor student progress, and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education
- Experience working with students with emotional/behavioral disorders (for self-contained ED teacher position)
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs (for cross categorical and resource/inclusion teacher positions)
- Knowledge of special education laws, regulations, and best practices
