    PRIMARY PURPOSE:
    Assist the school principal in overall administration of instructional program and campus level operations. Coordinate assigned student activities and services.

    Actively promote the improvement of instruction by fostering a positive school/organizational climate where all children can learn and become successful.


    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education/Certification :
    Texas Education Agency/State Board for Educator Certification Teaching & Administrative CredentialsCertified Professional Development and Appraisal System (PDAS) appraiserSpecial Knowledge/Skills :Thorough understanding of school operationsStrong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsAbility to coordinate campus support operationsEffective skills in behavior managementExperience :Three years of experience as a classroom teacherExperience in planning and presenting staff development

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
    Instructional ManagementParticipate in development and evaluation of educational programs.

    Encourage and support development of innovative instructional programsPromote the use of technology in teaching/learning processSchool/Organizational ClimatePromote a positive, caring climate for learning.

    Possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to handle emotionally challenging situationsWork with individuals and committees on developing strategies to address behavior and academic concernsSchool/Organizational ImprovementParticipate in development of campus improvement plans with staff, parents, and community membersHelp principal develop, maintain, and use information systems to maintain and records to track progress on campus performance objectives and academic excellence indicatorsPerform classroom visitations and demonstrationsObserve employee performance, record observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.

    Serve as second appraiser for designated teacher appraisal systemAssist principal in interviewing, selecting, and orienting new staffAdministration and Fiscal/Facilities ManagementSupervise operations in principals absenceHelp plan daily school activities by participating in the development of class schedules, teacher assignments, and extracurricular activity schedulesSupervise reporting and monitoring of student attendance and work with attendance clerk on follow-up investigationsWork with department heads and faculty to compile annual budget requests based on documented program needsRequisition supplies, textbooks, and equipment; check inventory; maintain records; and verify receipts for materialsAssist with safety inspections and safety-drill practice activitiesCoordinate transportation, custodial, cafeteria, and other support servicesComply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, and board policyStudent ManagementEnsure that students are adequately supervised during non-instructional periodsHelp to develop a student discipline management system that results in positive student behaviorEnsure that school rules are uniformly observed and that student discipline is appropriate and equitableConduct conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachersProfessional Growth and DevelopmentParticipate in professional development to improve skills related to job assignmentSchool/Community RelationsArticulate the schools mission to community and solicit its support in realizing missionDemonstrate awareness of school-community needs and initiate activities to meet those needsUse appropriate and effective techniques to encourage community and parent involvementAcademic Excellence Indicators & Campus Performance ObjectivesProvide instructional leadership to impact student learning

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    Share supervisory responsibility for professional staff with school principal. Supervise teachers, custodians, paraprofessionals, clerical personnel and others as assigned.
