    Description of Work

    Manage the University Police servers, desktop computing systems, and security systems as they relate to the Physical Access Control System (PACS).

    Assist with providing leadership and management of building access software systems and operations. Analyze, maintain, update, and control the building access systems. Coordinate and prioritize building access projects with ongoing operations throughout University departments. Serve as a backup to building access associates.

    May serve as a secondary source to provide hardware and software support for University Police systems and other specialized technology.

    Minimum Required Qualifications
    Bachelor's in Computer Science or a similar field.

    Advanced learning attained via professional level work experience that includes four years as a System Administrator may also be substituted, in lieu of a degree.

    Three years of professional level work experience with maintaining and designing physical access control systems, Windows, and SQL. Experience troubleshooting hardware and software. Working knowledge of current Microsoft desktop and server platforms, experience with SQL Server, configuring hardware and software. Proven experience as a System Administrator, preferably with a focus on Physical Access Control systems. Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.


    Preferred Qualifications
    Master's degree in computer science or related field, physical security systems design, maintenance, and operation. 5+ years of experience as a System Administrator managing critical infrastructure. Previous experience working in a system administration role managing Physical Access ControlCard Access servers and configuring related software.

    Familiarity with card access readers, hardware technology, and card credential formats Generalist background in IT with skills in networking, troubleshooting, and customer service.

    Experience with VMWare and virtual server environments. Familiar with Microsoft SQL Server management, MongoDB, and NOSQL technologies.
