    Job Summary

    A Wider Circle is seeking a pivotal leader to oversee the organization's day-to-day operations, with a strong emphasis on facility maintenance and oversight. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth running of our Silver Spring Center of Community Service, and we are looking for a mature professional with relevant handyman experience in operations. This person will report directly to the Operations Director, underscoring the importance of this role in our organizational structure.

    This position is a 5-day work week with the expectation of working two Saturdays monthly.

    The following is the schedule:

    • Monday 8 am to 6 pm
    • Tuesday 8 am to 6 pm
    • Wednesday 8 am to 6 pm
    • Thursday 8 am to 1 pm
    • Friday 8 am to 6 pm
    • Saturday 8 am to 6 pm (twice monthly with alternative day off)

    Supervisory Responsibility: Lead person as Manager On Duty


    Essential functions-primary responsibilities

    Primary Responsibility: The primary role is to oversee the day-to-day operations to ensure safe facility operations for staff and guests, including but not limited to clients, volunteers, and donors.

    • Facilitate daily operations at the Silver Spring HQ
    • Ability to work two Saturdays per month
    • Undertake daily reporting and identifying issues in alignment with SOPs
    • Triage and resolve minor issues in building operations, maintenance, facilities, and repairs
    • Conduct weekly visits to the 9141 office suites to ensure building maintenance systems run smoothly.
    • Serve as the backup center-based point of contact for IT support and security surveillance technology.

    Essential Functions:

    • Open and close primary facility when scheduled as the MOD.
    • Undertake regular rounds of facilities for smooth operations
    • Support the Operations team in building relationships to find internal or external support in resolving routine repairs.
    • Report and follow up on maintenance issues concerning HQ.
    • Ensure periodic maintenance of property systems - either directly or through external resources and outside vendors.
    • Running daily operations meetings with the team leads to outline tasks for the day and team schedules and note special projects.
    • Report staff attendance concerns to supervisors and senior management through a dedicated attendance email address.
    • Make hourly rounds to maintain the facility's appearance, including the parking lot.
    • Serve as the lead presence onsite throughout the day to ensure safe and smooth operations.
    • Troubleshoot, resolve, and report escalated stakeholder issues, such as those of staff, clients, donors, and volunteers.
    • Serve as a leader to navigate stakeholders through emergencies and recommend closures or other operations modifications to senior leadership.
    • Routinely communicate operational updates and/or critical issues via email.
    • Participate in monthly Mod meetings and review key processes to ensure effective operations.

    Required Skills /Abilities

    • Excellent supervisory skills.
    • Basic knowledge of operations and facilities management
    • Ability to create standard operating procedures and set operations goals
    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.

    Required education and experience

    • Associate's degree in General Studies or related field
    • Three years of related experience working in logistics, inventory, and a warehouse environment
    • One year of experience assisting with negotiating contracts or with vendors

    Preferred education and experience

    • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience

    Work environment

    • The Manager will work in a warehouse environment and outdoors in different weather climates.
