- Supervise and mentor a team of laboratory scientists and technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure efficient and effective laboratory operations.
- Oversee daily laboratory activities, including experimental design, execution, data analysis, and documentation, to support research and development projects.
- Manage laboratory resources, including equipment, supplies, and reagents, to ensure adequate inventory levels and proper maintenance of laboratory infrastructure.
- Develop and implement laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocols in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including research, development, quality assurance, and regulatory affairs, to support project timelines and milestones.
- Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to procure laboratory equipment, reagents, and services as needed.
- Ensure adherence to quality control and quality assurance standards for laboratory experiments, data integrity, and documentation practices.
- Maintain laboratory records, including experimental protocols, research findings, and laboratory notebooks, in accordance with company policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in laboratory inspections, audits, and regulatory submissions, providing support for compliance activities as needed.
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in biological sciences, biochemistry, molecular biology, or related field.
- 5-8 years of laboratory management experience in a biotechnology or pharmaceutical setting, preferably in ophthalmology research.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of scientists and technicians.
- Hands-on experience with laboratory techniques and instrumentation commonly used in molecular biology, cell biology, and biochemistry research.
- Thorough understanding of laboratory safety protocols, biosafety regulations, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and laboratory information management systems (LIMS).
- Experience with project management, budgeting, and resource allocation is desirable.
