    MB Professional Services has been retained by our client to fill the role of Senior Estimator in the Boston area.

    Charter Contracting is a growing Boston based Civil/Environmental Remediation Contractor with job sites throughout New England. Types of projects include but are not limited to environmental remediation, demolition, excavation, dredging, utility work, landfill cap and closures.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    Safety :

    • Maintain Health and Safety as a core value.
    • Demonstrate dedication to Charter's safety standards.

    Client/Partnering :

    • Project a positive corporate image to clients, subcontractors, and vendors.
    • Coordinate resource requirements with relevant personnel.
    • Interact effectively with clients throughout the process.

    Operational Excellence :

    • Recognize and meet deadlines for timely completion of estimates.
    • Estimate jobs accurately and competitively.
    • Review specifications, attend meetings, and determine scope of work.
    • Organize estimating strategy, recommend value engineering options, and participate in all estimate meetings.
    • Assist in project scheduling and bid document preparation.

    Financial Excellence :

    • Provide estimating services for profitable projects.
    • Prepare complete estimates and update pricing with actual quotations.
    • Review subcontractor and vendor quotes, communicate effectively during the estimate process, and review pricing with relevant leads.

    Team Development :

    • Efficiently utilize internal and external resources.
    • Collaborate with relevant company resources, including Project Managers, Superintendents, and Foreman.
    • Provide technical support for bids and proposals.
    • Monitor estimating staff support and assess expertise and needs.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • 4 year engineering/construction management degree or equivalent technical and/or related experience.
    • Minimum 10 years of estimating and/or construction experience.
    • Experience with estimating software (HCSS HeavyBID, Blue Beam, On-Screen, Agtek).
    • Advanced math and computer skills.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Extensive knowledge of standard industry cost accounting, estimating and project management procedures.
    • Ability to estimate all types of projects with varying contract mechanisms.
    • Ability to maintain trust and credibility with co-workers.
    • Ability to continually develop personal effectiveness with consideration for communication, self-awareness, and building trust.
    • Ability to be open to positive and constructive feedback as a tool for learning and professional development.
    • Ability to create, maintain and support a loyal team that seeks to engage in learning, development, and relationship building.
    • Ability to participate in the writing and review of proposal that is associated with the estimate.
