    The E.W. Scripps Company is hiring for an MC Hub Maintenance Tech.

    They will serve as a technical expert for the Scripps Master Control Hub Operator team, supporting the Scripps television broadcasting entities.

    Leverage deep knowledge of computers and IP networks as well as master control hub operations. Troubleshoot, diagnose and implement solutions to technical and operational difficulties.


    The Master Control Hub is responsible for partnering with the Scripps stations to provide centralized, remote control and monitoring of the commercial and programming sources for the stations.


    WHAT YOU'LL DO:

    • Serve as liaison to IT group for Master Control.
    • Report to the master control hub manager but consults with Scripps local station engineering directors and other senior leadership including the senior director of Scripps engineering.
    • Install, maintain and repair critical broadcasting components to ensure all systems are functioning at peak efficiency.
    • Troubleshoot and repair a variety of issues with broadcast and IT equipment.
    • Rely on extensive knowledge and professional discretion to perform efficiently and successfully.
    • Make recommendations for products and service enhancements.
    • Significant technical ingenuity and flexibility is expected.
    • Collaborate with technology suppliers regarding set-up, upgrades, enhancements, troubleshooting and issue resolution.
    • Program/customize master control software functionality.
    • Track and assist master control users with desktop computer and server issues.
    • When resolving open issues seek multiple perspectives, gather more information when necessary, close or escalate issues and monitor resolution so that hub operation is optimized.
    • Work with the hub leadership team to address operational issues and facilitate decision making with regard to technical matters.
    • Provide input and make recommendations to assist in disaster recovery and system planning.
    • Other duties as assigned.
    • May require working overtime, holidays and weekends with short notice when necessary.

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

    • Associates degree in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
    • Generally, 5+ years of experience in related field preferred

    WHAT YOU'LL BRING:

    • Very strong analysis and problem solving skills: The ability to assess a situation, seek multiple perspectives, gather information and identify key issues is critically important in this role
    • Solid knowledge of computer hardware, software, LAN environment, configuration and operation
    • A very high sense of responsibility and urgency regarding corrective action and customer service
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
    • Composure: Demonstrated ability to multi-task in a fast, deadline-driven environment, and maintain calmness and accuracy of work
    • Strong organization skills
    • Highly detail oriented
    • Working knowledge of video servers, routing processes and related equipment
    • Working knowledge of television RF transmitter parameters and operations
    • Good communications skills, both verbal and written
    • Working knowledge of all functions and responsibilities of television Master Control

    WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    • This position may require working overtime, holidays and weekends with short notice when necessary
