    Description

    Position Summary:
    The Optician provides patients/customers with quality optical merchandise and services. Will train the right candidate, previous eye care experience a plus. Must be able to travel on occasion for team coverage.


    Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
    Assist patients with frame and lens selectionEducate patients on all products and services offered by the dispensaryAcquire necessary measurements for frames and lensesBe well versed in participating vision plans and insurance plans (optical coverage)

    Place orders for optical merchandiseAdjust patient's eyewear to their satisfactionRepair, clean and adjust all walk-in patient's eyewearAddress patient's questions and concerns within realm of expertiseComplete appropriate glasses recheck form and evaluate patient concerns with their eyewearMaintain appearance of optical department throughout the course of the workday to ensure cleanliness and attractivenessBasic knowledge of Contact Lenses for ordering and processing, some opticians will do the insertion and removal trainings for new contact lens wearers (Deliveries)Computer skills with ECW software , PCIS and EMRMeet dispensary and clinic performance standards and goals as presented yearlyDevelops and maintains positive working relationships with other employeesProvide outstanding customer service to every patientOther duties as assignedKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
    High School diploma or equivalentABO Certification is required within one year of hire1-2 years of optical experience is preferredAbility to work in a fast-paced medical facility while adhering to HIPAA compliance regulationsDemonstrates knowledge of proper, safe, efficient usage of office equipment, computers, and software; working knowledge of Microsoft Office

    Work Conditions:
    Work is generally performed at the clinic assigned to. Travel to other clinic locations is possible for coverage. Hours of work will be dependent on the needs of the Clinic. Requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time. Occasional lifting (30 pounds), bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and climbing stairs is required.
