    The Administrative Director of Operations provides administrative and operational leadership and direction to the assigned departments, services, and programs.

    The position oversees the Department of Security and other areas and programs as assigned.


    The candidate must be competent in leadership attributes and customer service that is aligned with the mission, vision, values and core competencies of RWJBarnabas Health.


    The candidate must operate with a high degree of integrity, courage, compassion, autonomy and authority while carrying out position responsibilities.


    The candidate is responsible for efficiencies, regulatory compliance, streamlining processes and workflows that are geared to enhance the patient, staff and visitor experience while ensuring safety and security of its occupants.

    Master Degree in Business Administration, Law, Criminal Justice, Corporate National Security and/or other related discipline of studies preferred.

    Management, Crisis Management, Emergency Management, Intelligence, Military, or related field is preferred.


    A minimum of 5 years of Leadership experience managing multiple departments to include corporate security, private security, or hospital security experience.

    Law Enforcement and military experience can reduce corporate security experience.

    Must be results, goal oriented, decision maker and strategic planner with critical thinking capabilities.

    Threat and Risk Assessment experience is preferred.

    Ability to brief at all levels of the company including senior leadership and affiliate administrative leadership.

    Must have ability to communicate effectively and efficiently across a highly matrixed organization.

    Experience in the managing budgets, union and non-union middle management and front line staff.


    Demonstrated experience in risk analysis, data analytics, vendor management, strategic forecasting and planning, and regulatory compliance to include life safety and environment of care.

    Ability to assess and manage external security and intelligence vendors.

    Experience partnering with local, state, and federal law enforcement.

    Handle with Care BEST course or other de-escalation training completion within sixty days from date of hire.

    Candidate must be process driven and have demonstrated experience in data analytics and using data to make meaningful decisions.

    Experience with Critical Thinking in Emergency Response Situations.

    Demonstrated organizational skills.

    Preferred Security Certifications, including from ASIS International or IAHSS.

    Strong Proficiency in Microsoft office suite including excel, point, word, and virtual meeting and communication tools.

    Hospital Vulnerability Assessment and Security Risk Assessment experience is preferred.

    Ability to motivate and inspire teams.

    Significant collaboration capabilities including experience working with Human Resources, administration, Security, IT, Communications, and other critical internal and external stakeholders.
