This position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on public health by serving both the community and individuals in a correctional setting.This Public Health Nurse will split their time between providing essential health services in the county jail and delivering community-based programs that fall into various categories including communicable disease control, chronic disease & injury prevention, environmental public health, maternal-child health and access and linkage to clinical care.
The role combines clinical care, health education, collaboration with multidisciplinary teams offering variety professional growth
- Provide nursing care to incarcerated individuals assessments screenings medication administration chronic disease management addressing inmate health concerns.
- Provide ongoing education guidance correctional officers safe medication administration practices.
- Audit medication administration records accuracy compliance communicable disease prevention within jail setting.
