    Senior tax associates in the Specialty Tax Services group serve as members of various client service teams and must possess foundational technical knowledge in areas including, but not limited to:

    Multistate Income/Franchise Taxation

    Multistate Sales and Use Taxation

    Multistate Credits & Incentives (Including Federal and State R&D Tax Credits); and

    Property Taxation

    Senior Specialty Tax associates are given a wide variety of diversified tax assignments under the supervision of different professionals and are responsible for the support of a full range of tax planning, consulting and compliance services to clients.

    Responsibilities include tax return review and preparation; support in planning, consulting, and compliance; developing and supervising staff; and assisting in client management and practice development activities.

    Essential Functions:

    • Assist with engagements, which includes planning, executing, directing, and completing tax projects and managing to budget within a given timeline.
    • Deliver a full range of State and Local Tax services including tax return preparation and review, tax research, preparation of technical memorandums, and drafting client correspondence. Assignments include, but are not limited to, reverse sales tax reviews, audit defense, and research of sales tax issues.
    • Conduct multi-disciplinary, multi-state reviews that analyze income, franchise, sales and use, payroll, ad valorem taxes, and others to identify optimal filing options, exemptions, credits and incentives, and corporate structures that can reduce the client's tax burden.
    • Prepare returns for more complex State and Local Tax returns including Income and Franchise Tax, Sales and Use Tax, Property Tax, etc. and demonstrate an understanding of increasingly complex tax concepts.
    • Respond to inquiries from the IRS and other tax authorities.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Broad exposure to multistate sales and use taxation, credits and incentives, and/or the Research and Development tax credits, a plus.
    • Proficient in tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, corporate consolidated returns, and combined state tax returns.
    • Foundational knowledge of multistate income/franchise tax and general accounting
    • principles.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • 2 to 4 years proven work experience public accounting or similar at an R&D tax credit consultancy.
    • Bachelors degree, usually in accounting, or masters degree in accounting
    • Either hold a current and valid CPAs license or be working toward obtaining the license by taking and passing the applicable state CPA exam.
