Carolina PRG is partnering with a property management company to identify a Senior Accountant responsible for preparing and maintaining financial records to track the organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities and other related financial activities. The Senior Accountant's primary responsibilities will include bank reconciliations, recording journal entries in the general ledger and financial reporting to various stakeholders in the company. The position reports directly to Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and summarize financial statements including balance sheets, profit and loss statements and cash flow statements on a monthly basis for complex funds and entity structures.
- Be a key contributor to modernization efforts across the Accounting function
- Proactively identify inefficiencies and champion innovative solutions that transform manual workflows into streamlined, decision-ready outputs, using AI, complex Excel models, or other systems and tools.
- Investigate significant variances in financial statements and report findings to executives.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and review and post journal entries.
- Prepare support in response to external audit and tax requests.
- Review multiple bank accounts, verify deposits and address inquires with staff.
- Research and resolve any customer credit card issues or refunds.
- Prepare sales and use tax returns on a monthly and quarterly basis.
- Assist in the annual budgeting process
- Prepare and filing personal property tax returns.
- Treasury functions including cash consolidation and wire transfers.
- Assist in construction accounting & capitalization of fixed assets.
- Leverage Excel-driven financial analysis, using advanced Excel skills
- Ad hoc projects and reports as assigned.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- 5+ years of accounting experience required.
- Experience with enterprise level accounting system such as MS Dynamics, Yardi, MRI and/or other accounting software preferred.
- Experience with complex reporting environments and intercompany transactions preferred.
- Active CPA license or willingness to pursue CPA license strongly preferred.
- Strong Excel skills including v-lookup functions, pivot tables, and build dynamic formula driven models.
- Experience with and aptitude for continuous improvement.
- Experience in use of AI and other efficient tools to improve processes a plus.
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
- Must be detail oriented, organized and able to adapt within a highly dynamic environment.
