    Main Purpose of Job

    To direct all daily activities of the food service operation at the DJS Facility. This includes planning, organizing, evaluating, and directing food production and food service including the procurement of food and food service supplies. This position supports the mission of the agency by providing safe, nutritious, appetizing meals that promote the optimal health, growth, and well-being of youth housed at assigned DJS Facility.\r

    POSITION DUTIES

    \r
    Plans, organizes, and directs the daily\r
    food production and food service program.�\r
    Coordinates the scheduling of meals with other daily operational programs\r
    and activities within the facility.\r

    \r
    Supervises kitchen\r
    sanitation and safety.�\r
    Monitors the food service operation for compliance with HACCP-based\r
    standard operating procedures as defined in the HACCP policy binder. Monitors\r
    the food service operation for compliance with health department regulations\r
    including COMAR and DJS Juvenile Detention Standards.\r

    Procures food and food-related supplies\r
    using FMIS.�\r
    Observe and abide by all state procurement regulations to ensure no fraud\r
    or misuse occurs within the department.\r

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    Experience:�Six years of experience supervising workers and activities in an institutional, commercial, or industrial food service operation.\r
    Notes:\r
    1. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience supervising workers and activities in an institutional, commercial, or industrial food service operation for the required experience.\r
    2.�Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer in Food Services Officers or Culinary Specialist classifications or Food Services Manager and Services Officer specialty codes in the Food Service Management field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.\r

    DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    One year of experience working\r
    with the Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) Financial Management Information\r
    System (FMIS) process.\r

    One year of experience working\r
    with the Federal Child Nutrition Program (CNP) program.\r

    \r
    \r
    \r
    One year of experience working\r
    with and implementing Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) procedures.\r
