Job Summary

Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment, maintaining sterile fields, and handling animals with confidence.
- Perform animal restraint using proper techniques to ensure safety for both animals and staff during treatments or examinations.
- Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments accurately following veterinary instructions and aseptic techniques.
- Support animal husbandry activities including feeding, grooming, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring health status to promote optimal animal well-being.
- Handle animal intake and discharge at the front desk, including scheduling appointments, processing patient records, and communicating with pet owners effectively.
- Conduct laboratory tests such as blood draws or sample collection to assist in diagnostics under veterinary supervision.
- Maintain detailed records of treatments, medication administration, and procedural notes to ensure compliance with clinic protocols.
Skills
- Proven experience working in veterinary clinics or animal shelters with strong knowledge of animal handling and restraint techniques.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology, anatomy, physiology, and aseptic procedures essential for clinical support.
- Demonstrated ability to perform laboratory tasks such as sample collection and basic testing procedures confidently.
- Excellent communication skills for front desk duties including client interaction, appointment scheduling, and providing pet care advice.
- Skilled in administering medications accurately and managing critical care situations with professionalism.
- Experience working with a variety of animals including dogs, cats, equines (horses), and other small or exotic species is highly desirable.
- Ability to work efficiently in fast-paced environments while maintaining a positive attitude and compassionate approach toward animals and clients.
